Young boxers bowled over by end-of-year celebrations

-

MEMBERS and coaches of Enniskerry Boxing Club enjoyed their Christmas party recently at Bray Bowl. There were 36 kids and nine adults at the party in total, with members’ ages ranging from six right up to 20 years.

This was the second year they had their party at Bray Bowl. It was a great opportunity for all ages to mix for a few hours of Quasar Laser Tag, bowling and games. They also got some pizza at the end to finish off proceedings. Eamonn Carr of Enniskerry Boxing Club said that it has been quite a year, with the club coming close to closing last spring. They faced losing their premises at Dublin Road until they managed to secure premises at the Egan Centre thanks to the Egan family.

A high point of the year was Daina Moorehouse’s amazing European Youth Championship win. Eamonn said that the club is now looking to the future and making sure they can stay open. In the short term, they are very pleased to have their club based on the Dargle Road. In the medium term, they hope to go to the Bog Meadow facility in Enniskerry, and in the long term, a sports campus at Fassaroe.
