New Bray boss ready and able to tackle his new role

-

NEW Bray Wanderers boss Dave Mackey says that he is satisfied with the budget he has been given for the year ahead and is fully committed to his new role with the Seagulls.

Speaking exclusively to the Bray/Wicklow People, Mackey says that he has discussed the way forward for the club with Gerry Mulvey and that he is fully focused on the football side of things and nothing else.

“My dealings have been through Gerry Mulvey and I found Gerry Mulvey to be a very good person to deal with. I was happy to meet Gerry and I was happy to discuss Gerry’s plans and we both discussed our views and where the club should go forward. That’s what we discussed. We have to deal with the reality of the situation on the football side because it’s the football side that I’m focused on.”

Chairman Gerry Mulvey has been forced to offer a smaller budget to Mackey than Kenny received but it has not deterred Mackey, who is optimistic that he can re-recruit the key members of last season’s squad despite his reduced spending.

“I’m satisfied with the budget. I’m a realist. I’m happy to work with the chairman on the basis of the budget that we have; absolutely.

“I’ve spoken to most of the players. I’ve met a good few of them already in the short space of time that I’ve been in. Some players are still away. I’ve spoken to players on the phone too. I’ve nothing but the highest regard for the players that are there within the club and the players that are out of contract. My goal is to try and work towards a position where we’re bringing back the core of the group from last season. In the main, I’ve received a positive response from the players in the discussions I’ve had with them. But obviously there’s work to be done yet before I’m in the position to confirm who is returning.”
