Edwardian high tea served at Rathmichael

-

Parishioners at Rathmichael dressed in Edwardian fashion last Saturday, for a tea party fit for that King himself.

The event was organised to raise money for the Rector’s Discretionary Fund.

The fund is in place to help those in need in the community.

There was no admission charge in par- ticular, with donations gratefully accepted on the day.

While fancy dress was optional, attendees did not disappoint and were decked out in the garb of the early 20th century.

Everyone enjoyed a lovely spread of sandwiches, scones, cakes, tea and coffee and other goodies.

The costumes included top hats, monocles, and colourful ladies’ hats and fascinators. The rector’s fund provides practical financial help, usually in small amounts, when a need may arise.

Canon Fred Applebe administers the fund, with an independent auditor and in complete confidence.
