GUN STOLEN FROM HOUSE

-

A SHOTGUN and some computer equipment was stolen from a house in Glenealy during the day.

The owner of the property returned home on Tuesday, January 2, to find that the premises had been illegally entered.

On further inspection they found that a shotgun was missing, along with some stolen computer apparatus. The legally owned weapon had been stored in a safe attached to the wall but the culprits managed to open the lock-up it was being kept in. The incident occurred sometime between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. when the house was empty.

A Garda spokesperson has advised gun-owners to ensure there weapons are safely secured at all times. In a number of recent incidents Gardai believe certain homes have been targeted because they were known to contain legally-held firearms.
