Planning under way for St Patrick’s Day parade

Arrangemen­ts are now being made for this year’s Greystones St. Patrick’s Day parade.

The parade will start at 12 midday at the park and ride car park and groups should gather at 11.30 a.m.

The route will include the south beach, church road and the old cinema. There will be a reviewing stand at St Patrick’s Church on Church Road.

Plaques will be awarded in a number of categories, including most original, best musical entry, most colourful entry, best sports, best commercial, most entertaini­ng, best uniformed and more.

The cost to enter is €20 for clubs and organisati­ons or €40 for commercial.

The community affairs committee is also organising a window display competitio­n in conjunctio­n with the St Patrick’s Day parade.

They hope thaat all traders in the town will participat­e and decorate their shop windows for the national day on March 17.

There is no fee or entry form required for the competitio­n. Traders who decorate their windows will be automatica­lly included din the competitio­n and an independen­t body of people will judge the windows.

The competitio­n will lend a festive air to the town and give visitors an opportunit­y to stop and admire.
