THERE was sadness in Donard at the death of Noel (Timothy) Grace recently.

Noel passed away in the care of the staff at Baltinglass Community Hospital, where he had spent the past six-and-a-half years of his life.

His brother Sean, on behalf of the family, paid tribute to Noel and extended sincere gratitude to all the nursing staff, doctors, local clergy and care assistants in Baltinglass Community Hospital who cared for his brother throughout the past six-and-ahalf years of his adult life.

‘He was extremely happy and content in his own reserved private apartment. He made many great friends, both inside and outside his adopted home. His passing will leave an empty place in our family home. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him on his daily routine exploring the hospital complex, on his regular tour from place to place in his wheelchair both inside and outside the hospital grounds, where he would bump into people visiting their friends in the hospital and where he would also engage in chat with construction staff. Most people got to know him on his daily tour around the hospital wards. Throughout the course of time many people admired his ability and wisdom to reminisce and embrace in the heart-to-heart chat with people about many things in times past.

The most important thing for him was his freedom; he adored the outdoor life and enjoyed traveling the countryside. I feel truly honoured to describe Noel as an intelligent, friendly, kind human being who never had a bad word to say about anyone. May he rest in paradise forevermore.’
