Windswept walkers tackle Operation Transformation 5k

- By MARY FOGARTY

Operation Transformation is back once again to inspire us all to shape up in 2018.

A ‘nationwide walk’ was held recently to get everyone moving, and Bray was one of the locations, as well as Blessington and Arklow.

The event was held in association with Wick- low Hospice Foundation and Wicklow Local Sports Partnership.

Walkers conquered inclement weather to tackle the task, and despite rain and wind enjoyed a bracing walk from the bandstand.

The route was around 5km and a great start for those taking the first steps on their fitness journey.

Five leaders have been selected to appear twice a week on the RTE programme, which airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The nation is invited to take part, following their chosen leader’s nutrition and fitness plan, and taking part in local and national events.

At the end of the series, on Saturday, February 18, a 5km run will take place in Pheonix Park.

This is the 11th series of Operation Transformation, which boasts Greystones’ own Dr Ciara Kelly on its staff.

As well as concentrating on weight loss, it has a focus on overall health and how we can make positive changes to our lives.
