Heroes of ‘88 heading for Woodlands

WHAT do Paul McGrath, Ronnie Whelan and Ray Houghton have in common? Well, apart from being footballing heroes, they’ll also be reeling in the years in Greystones on Saturday, February 24, as they participate in the Greystones United AFC Legends versus Republic of Ireland legends.

The Boys in Green team will comprise mainly of stars from the Euro ‘88 squad as they reminisce 30 years after defeating England in Stuttgart.

There will also be a meet and greet with McGrath throughout the match as part of a family fun day at the Woodlands so it isn’t just for dads and uncles who still fondly remember 1988.

Once the legends have got their breath back and had a few hours rest, there will be a dinner with a question and answers session featuring Whelan, Houghton and Tony Cascarino.

Match tickets are a snip at €10, with dinner tickets coming in at €75. The dinner will be hosted in the Parkview Hotel in Newtown.
