junior action is still just over a month away but the seniors faced a tough tie on Sunday in the last 16 of the Wicklow Cup. Ashford Rovers A have won the competitio­n in 2016 and 2017 but met a resurgent Glencormac Team in good form of late and the Glens prevailed on a 3-2 scoreline.

Ashford were all out attack for the first 10 minutes but the Glens held them out and then went in at the break with a 2-0 lead following goals from Dean McCormack and Sam Kerr. However, Ashford came back like the champions they are to first score following a corner and then from the penalty spot which also saw a Glens player dismissed as a last man foul so it looked like the writing was on the wall with 20 minutes still to play.
