Thursday Group: Neville and Anne Thompson hosted the January meeting last Thursday morning.

The Alpha/In-Between Book Club: The next meeting of the Book Club will take place at 8 p.m. next Tuesday night. The books for this review and discussion at this meeting are – ‘Elinor Elephant is Completely Fine’ by Gail Honeyman and ‘Plainsong’ by Kent Haruf.

ST ANNE’S PARISH

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m.

UAC Monthly Meeting: The monthly meeting of the Union of Catholic Apostolate will take place in St Anne’s Resource Centre this coming Monday at 8 p.m.

Laudate Festival – Catholic Schools Week 2018: St Anne’s NS will join in song with other national schools, during an evening of hymns and reflection in the Church of the Guardian Angels, Newtownpar­k Ave., Blackrock, Co. Dublin, next Wednesday at 7 p.m. Entry to the festival is free to all. Hospitalit­y Sunday This Sunday: The Hospitalit­y Team would like to invite you to come to St Anne’s Resource Centre for tea or coffee this Sunday after the 10.30 a.m. Mass.

Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group: The Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group is holding a five-week course to help those who have had a loss. The course started last Monday from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre., and will continue for the next four Monday nights. This is a free course and open to adults over 18 years of age.

Youth 2000: Youth 2000 is seeking new members for 2018. We invite all 16- to 35-year-olds to join Fr Jaimie on Monday evenings from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre to gather for adoration, prayer and reflection. The meetings are followed by a cup of tea and social from 9 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.

January Film Night: Takes place on this Saturday at 8 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre at which the musical ‘The Jolson Story’ Starring Evelyn Keyes and Larry Parks will be screened. Admission Free.

BOOK SALE

The February First Saturday Book Sale which supports the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n, will take place in the Shankill Old Folks Day Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, so make a point of calling into the book sale on that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material.

Donations of books, which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on the day. Photograph­s and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays – open this Friday but closed on Saturday. The next meeting of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack and the surroundin­g area, takes place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, in Rathmichae­l National School, Stonebridg­e Road (Dublin Road end), Shannkill at which Tim Carey will present his lecture ‘Dublin since 1922’. All welcome – admission €4.

ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. SHANKILL GAA CLUB

The juvenile Academy returned to training in St Laurence College at 10 a.m. last Saturday. Our annual general meeting will be held in St Anne’s Resource Centre, Shankill, at 8 p.m. this coming Monday and all members are requested to attend. We held a table quiz in Brady’s Pub last Thursday at 8 p.m. – thank you to all those who supported it.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Sadly, after 15 years, SARA has closed due to the lack of people willing to form a committee. Other activities such as Scrabble, Book Club, and art will continue as usual.
