Champion Daina left venue before shooting
BRAY boxer Daina Moorehouse is the under-18 All-Ireland champion after a 5-0 judges’ decision at the National Stadium last Friday, defeating Ciara O’Brien.
Daina (16) and her coaching team from Enniskerry Boxing Club had left the stadium before a shooting took place outside the premises in which two men were injured.
Eamonn Carr of the club said that they hadn’t brought club members to the championships as the Leinsters are coming up. In the event that they had, they probably would have stayed longer and been present at that time.
The shooting incident took place on the South Circular Road at approximately 9.45 p.m.
Gardaí at Kevin Street Garda Station are appealing for information. They are appealing to members of the public who may have any information in relation to this incident or who may have been in the area of South Circular Road, St. Alban’s Road, Dublin 8 between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. that night.
