Appeal against inclusion of sites

THE company behind plans for a new village centre in Rathnew have appealed against the inclusion of lands they own on the Vacant Sites Register.

Cedarbrick Ltd has lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanála over the inclusion of two sites at the junction of the R772 and R671 in Newrath, near to Wicklow County Campus.

The appeal was lodged on January 8.

Owners of sites may make a submission within 28 days once they have been informed that a site belonging to them has been included on the register.

If the local authority still feels it should remain on the register, the owners can appeal to An Bord Pleanála.

Once it is determined that a site fulfils the criteria, the planning authority will write to the owner of the site outlining the reasons behind its proposed inclusion.

The owner may make a submission within 28 days.

Cedarbrick Ltd have plans for a one- to three-storey village centre scheme in Rathnew, comprising retail convenienc­e food store, cafe, 26 dwelling house units and 134 car parking spaces.
