App and display fail to reflect changes in Bray

-

THE 133 bus, which travels between Dublin Airport and Wicklow, will not be going via Bray Main Street until at least March according to Bus Eireann.

The bus service currently travels via Upper Dargle Road.

However, a passenger unaware of this fact would be left completely in the dark, as the ‘real-time’ app and ‘real-time’ displays linked to Bray Main Street have not been corrected, and PDF timetables on the website have not been changed. The company said that this is not necessary for a temporary re-routing, albeit of at least two months duration and more.

The move was initially to be in place from late December until January 14. The date is now ‘ the end of February’. A passenger trying to travel from Bray to Wicklow and not familiar with the circumstances, who had checked the app, real time display and company website, would be left standing on Bray Main Street waiting for a bus to arrive. There is a notice published on the website, which is not immediately apparent to the user, being ‘under the fold’ and not linked to any timetable.

‘ The routing changes in the Bray area have resulted in improved service reliability and reduced journey times to the city centre,’ said John Sheridan on behalf of Bus Eireann on Monday. ‘Bus Éireann in conjunction with the NTA are assessing all options and customer feedback before making a decision on future routings in Bray.

‘The temporary routing will continue until the end of February at which stage a final decision will be made.’

The company said that a very small percentage of overall passengers board or alight in Bray.

‘Customers who wish to travel to Bray Town Centre can connect via Dublin Bus from the Upper Dargle Road, or it is within walkable distance. They can also transfer onto Route 184 at Newtownmountkennedy which operates every 30mins,’ said Mr Sheridan. There is also a 45A from Kilmacanogue. Peak services between Wicklow and Bray continue, departing Wicklow at 7.40 a.m. and 4 p.m. with return trips from Bray at 4.45 p.m. and 6.05 p.m.
