Children enjoy some tasty lessons at the Cool Food School

-

THE ‘Cool Food School’, which teaches children about the joys of healthy eating, was launched recently at the Whale Theatre in

Greystones.

The school was set up by Deirdre Doyle with the mission of teaching children of all ages about eating, cooking and loving healthy food. Deirdre completed a BTEC in Nutrition and Health Coaching and an

ITEC in diet and nutrition at the Irish Institute of Nutrition and Health in 2016 and decided to combine this training with her passion for healthy eating to have a positive influence on children of all ages.

The Cool Food School brings the healthy message to children in preschools, primary schools and libraries through fun and interactive workshops.

Children attending the launch at the Whale where given a small taste of what these involve as they took part in some blind tasting, lettuce planting, rainbow making, carrot chopping and more.

The launch also included the screening of interactive food-based children’s movie, a brief presentation explaining the work of the Cool Food School and some light refreshments.
