Show is a total sell-out
ROUNDWOOD Variety Group presented ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at four sold-out performances at the Brockagh Resource Centre.
Months of rehearsing and hard-work certainly paid off judging by the production levels on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, including matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
The panto featured all the tale’s favourite characters, from French butlers to Scottish gardeners, as village-girl Belle entered the Beast’s castle and soon began to warm his cold heart.
The talented cast included 43 children split into two groups, ranging in ages from eight and upwards.
There were also 22 adult and teen cast members.
Sabitha Smith made for a wonderful Bella, while Ciara Dunne acted as the Best and Daniel Byrne took on the role of the Prince. Derek Nielsen played Bella’s father. Anne McIntyre was the Director of the panto and has worked with Roundwood Variety Group for a number of years, as well as helping with play productions at the Dominican Convent Wicklow.
Music teacher Kathryn Noone was the Musical Director and ensured each song was delivered with real aplomb.
Roundwood Variety Group was established in 1995 and have grown in stature year-on-year, putting on productions of all the classics.
