Another victory for Eamonn
TEN times Irish Autotest champion Eamonn Byrne added another victory to his vast collection at Mondello Park yesterday when his Toyota Starlet headed a huge field of almost 90 cars to take a narrow win and the Dave Griffin Memorial Trophy in TDC’s Multi-Venue Autotest.
Byrne led from the start and was never headed, although he was under severe pressure all the way from fellow Wicklow- man Christopher Evans, who was three seconds behind at the finish. Brothers Eoin and Niall Murray took third and fourth positions.
In West Cork, James Fitzgerald and Ken Carmody scored their first outright win in the Skibbereen 100 Isles Navigation Trial, fifteen marks clear of runners-up Owen Murphy and Daire Hayes after an 85 mile course based on Ballinacarriga.
