RDA MEETING

At the January meeting of the RDA Committee chairman Jimmy Olohan opened the meeting by wishing everyone a Happy New Year and welcomed new committee member Liam Kinsella.

Votes of sympathy were passed for the families of Larry Parsons, Christy Bolton, Attracta Brosnan, Christy Murphy and Harriet Condell all local people recently deceased, and to the family of Maura Mason originally from Roundwood, who also died recently.

Cllr Pat Kennedy gave an update on all council activity in Rathdrum and was complimented by the committee on the erection of a number of seats in the town. These are an enhancement to the local area and it is hoped that further funding might be made available to provide more seating later in the year. The committee wish Zoetis all the best for a prosperous and successful future in Rathdrum and hope that it brings about increased local employment as the Company gears itself towards production.

PARNELL MEMORIAL PARK

A survey of the trees in the park was carried out last year and two very old trees close to the entrance of the park need to be felled and a number of others need to be pruned. This work will be necessary and expensive. The RDA continues to maintain the park and are currently examining tenders with a view to getting the work carried out by April 2018.
