Have your say on Newtownmountkennedy local area plan

SUBMISSIONS are being invited regarding the Newtownmountkennedy Local Area Plan 2018–2024.

Wicklow County Council intend to prepare a draft local area plan (LAP) which, when adopted, will be replace the existing 2008–2018 LAP.

The aim of a LAP is to establish a framework for the planned, co-ordinated and sustainable development of an area. Its objective is to enhance and facilitate the balancing of economic, social and environmental infrastructure in order to maintain and develop a high quality of life without compromising the protection of the environment and the needs of future generations.

The Newtownmountkennedy LAP sets out the development strategy for the town, specific land use objectives which will guide the future development of the settlement and influences where new development may occur in Newtownmountkennedy.

An informal information evening was held on Thursday in the Parkview Hotel, where council staff from the Planning Department answered questions about the process.

People can make submissions up until 5 p.m. on February 23. They can be emailed to planreview@wicklowcoco. ie or sent to the Planning Department of Wicklow County Council.
