Stewards sought to help out at this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade

-

Volunteers are being sought to help out with this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade.

Arrangements were discussed at last Tuesday’s meeting of Greystones Municipal District.

The parade is organised by the Community Affairs Committee. Each year they put out an appeal for extra pairs of hands to help the day run as smoothly as possible.

Anyone who can lend a hand on March 17 is asked to contact the Municipal District Office on 01 28766694 or email greystonesMD@wicklowcoco.ie.

The parade will start at 12 midday, with groups to gather at the park and ride at 11.30 a.m.

The route will take in the south beach, Church Road and the old cinema, with a viewing stand at St Patrick’s church.

Awards will be presented in a number of categories including most colourful, most entertaining, and overall parade winner.

There will also be best sports, best uniformed, most topical and best traditional Irish.

A ‘Window Display’ competition will also be held in conjunction with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The aim of this competition is to encourage local businesses and organisations to decorate their windows for our national day. No application form is required for the competition. All decorated premises will be inspected and judged by an independent panel of judges.

Entries to the parade are still being accepted up to February 23.

Admission is €20 for clubs and organisations, or €40 for commercial.

Contact the district office to find out more.
