Financial boost for two Wicklow GAA clubs

-

THE Leinster GAA club development grant cheque presentation took place on Tuesday 30th of January.

Leinster Council GAA give out grants annually to clubs to assist in development or renovation of the club’s infrastructure.

Two GAA clubs from the county were chosen to receive such grants, these were Kilmacanogue GAA and St. Patricks GAA from Wicklow Town.

Kilmacanogue GAA were awarded €17,500 to help in the renovation of their clubhouse. The clubhouse is being rebuilt after it suffered a double arson attack back in February 2016 which vandalised the whole building. The club began the rebuild on April 1st 2017 and hope to have it completed soon.

A massive €45,000 was granted to St. Patricks GAA in aid of the development of their new GAA grounds. The club purchased 30 acres of land on the Greenhill Road in Wicklow Town in July 2017. Their current home on the Dunbar road is only around 7 acres so this grant will be a huge boost for the club’s future development.
