Final day of action

Third and fourth class boys strut their stuff in Greystones

-

LAST Friday saw the final day of indoor football action for the third and fourth class boys football in north Wicklow. Teams from all over the north travelled to Shoreline Leisure Centre in Greystones to participate in the Allianz third and fourth class boys indoor football blitz.

Again, with the number of participating teams, the blitz was split into two sessions. Session one saw three teams from third class in St. Laurence’s, Greystones, pit their skill and wisdom against two teams from St. Peter’s Bray and a team from Moneystown NS. A thoroughly competitive affair saw the six teams enthusiastically show off their skills, teamwork and score taking.

A big ‘Thank You’ has to go to the coaches of all three schools but most importantly to the boys who competed in a very sporting manner.

Session two saw two teams fro Gaelscoil Uí Cheadaigh, Bray, two from St. Kevin’s, Greystones and a team each from Scoil Chulann, Bray and Newtown. Once again, the boys of third and fourth in these schools demonstrated an extremely high level of skill. These end-to-end games allowed the boys to exhibit their shooting accuracy, one-two combinations and blocking skills, all of which are important for the indoor game.

Mile buíochas were offered to the múinteoirí who helped facilitate the day and to the young whistlers from Scoil Chulann who officiated on the day.

Here’s hoping we witness as much talent on the outdoor pitches next month.
