LARAGH
Senior training continues every Tuesday and Thursdays at 8pm. Everyone make a big effort to attend as it’s only a few weeks away from our first league game away to Donard.
As everyone knows by now we’re holding a major fundraiser StrictlyLipSync Laragh.
This is a joint venture with Scoil Chaoimhin Naofa, this event is getting very close it’s on Saturday, February 24, in Roundwood, tickets are limited and selling fast so order yours ASAP.
All the contestants and committees are putting in a savage amount of time and effort so please get out and support them.
So far, they’ve had numerous events and without all your support this would be impossible to go ahead. They’re not over yet see below for some very good nights ahead.
This weekend there’s two major events on our StrictlyLipSync Laragh. First, on Friday 9th, at 7.30pm, in Lynham’s Hotel, we’re holding ‘An Evening With The Dubs’. We’ve a few special guests on the night Pat Gilroy, Mikey Whelan and one of the most talented footballers around at the minute Diarmuid Connolly. Tickets are selling fast for this event so get your orders in quick. Anyone with any interest in GAA should not miss out on the chance to listen to these legends. Tickets €10 each. Plus, a super raffle on the night.
On Saturday, February 10, we’re hosting our very own Blind Date in The Parkview Hotel in Newtown. Once again tickets are selling fast and are limited so get your orders in ASAP as this promises to be a great night with plenty of laughs. Tickets are €10 each. On February 14, there is a Rainbow Run at Scoil Chaoimhin Naofa.
Valentine’s disco on February 15 from 2-4pm in Lynham’s Hotel.
Karaoke night on Friday 16th in the Glendalough Hotel.
On Saturday, February 17, in Lynham’s Hotel lobby we’re holding a Past and Present Laragh GAA players night. This has been organised by Brian Doyle and we will have the great Jimmy Dunne in attendance. Jimmy will no doubt have all the details of Laragh’s history over the years. This is a great opportunity for the ex-players to meet the present Junior ‘A’ champions.
Also, on sale are 2018 calendars, contact any school or GAA member for one. These are something you can’t miss out on some excellent photos.
Classic car rally on in Laragh’s GAA pitch on February 18 from noon, refreshments served on the day.
AUGHRIM
Congrats to Aughrim clubman John Keenan who was referee between Wexford and Cork in the National Hurling League today also assisted by club men Liam Keenan snr and Tommy Keenan as umpires. Great performance by all.
Well done to the Clancy brothers, Mark and Ian, who are hitting the headlines in the school competitions for all the right reasons. Mark was part of Colaiste Bhríde hurling team that won the South Leinster Junior final recently and Ian starred for Coláiste Bhríde Senior football team who beat Avondale in the county ‘A’ schools semi-final and face Dunlavin in the final shortly. Best of luck to both.

Lacken GAA are hosting a special general meeting, this meeting will take place on Sunday, February 11, at 7.00pm in Lacken Community Centre. A vote on the proposed amalgamation of Lacken/Kilbride will take place on the night.
A new executive committee for Lacken GAA was voted in on January 30. Our sympathy to the Byrne and Doyle families on the passing of brother and sister Liam and Mary. Also, to the Caulfield family on the passing of Joe. May they rest in peace.
Senior and Junior training is in full flow now and the seniors are starting their league campaign on February 18. All support will be appreciated.

BLESSINGTON
Pitches – Unfortunately due to the weather our pitches will remain closed until at least next weekend.
County – Hard luck to our footballers and hurlers today who lost out to London and Down respectively.
County Ladies – The team and management were disappointed to be told at late notice that Kilkenny were giving them a walkover on Sunday, February 4. March was scheduled to be held in Roundwood.
Adult Fixtures – Update on fixtures next week. Club registration night – Please put Tuesday 20th February into your diary as this is the Clubs registration night. Venue and time TBC. Fees remain the same as 2017. All players (juvenile and adult), coaches, committee members, parents, non-players etc. must register on the night. More information regarding fees will be posted on the club’s website and Facebook page.
Leinster GAA Cross County U13 and U15 league – Games scheduled to take place v Sallins on Saturday and Sunday in Blessington had to be cancelled on Saturday 3rd February as pitches were unplayable due to the bad weather. Next up on February 10, the U13s are away to Ratoath and the U15s are away to Round Towers (KE). More info on Facebook page during the week.

ST. PATRICKS
The St Patrick’s annual dinner dance will take place in the Grand Hotel, Wicklow on Saturday, February 24. All members past and present welcome! Two good wins for our juvenile footballers this week in the first round of the Leinster league.
Our U13s beat Eadestown from Kildare, while our U15s beat Kildavin Clonegal from Carlow. Well done all and a big thank you to An Tochar and Kilcoole for use of their grounds.
Well done to our under-12 hurlers who travelled to Dublin on Saturday to take part in a blitz with Commercials, Cuala, and St. Vincent’s. The boys played well beating Commercials and Cuala before losing to St. Vincent’s in a tight battle in their final game.

Our sincere condolences to the family of Humphrey (Charlie) Murphy of Marlton Road, Wicklow Town who passed away on 31st January peacefully at St. Vincent’s University Hospital. Coffee shop volunteers: The Coffee Shop on Saturday mornings is in desperate need of volunteers. If you’re free just pop up to the clubhouse on Saturday morning between 10am-1pm. Even if you can spare an hour it would be very much appreciated. It’s great fun and we promise not to take it too seriously.
New Bray Emmets gear: The club shop has new club gear from Power On Sports in stock. We have a small supply of the rain jackets and training tops in stock and the bottoms are due in early February. The club shop is open every Saturday morning from 10:30am.
John Lonergan’s talk: Many thanks to Mark and the Academy Committee for organising John Lonergan to speak to us about raising children in the modern age.
A fantastic night was had with over 140 people in attendance. He was so well received and spoke about the details of raising children, many of which are common sense that we often forget about.
You could hear a pin drop in the room. If you ever have the opportunity to hear John speak or to buy his book we would highly recommend that you do. Thank you all for coming and look out for our future events.
Child protection: A Child Protection Course takes place in Bray Emmets on Tuesday 6th February.
Any mentors/coaches who have not attended a course must attend. Please register your place with Willie Braine, Joe Barnes or Frances Stephenson. A reminder too that all involved with underage players must, by law, be Garda vetted - contact Willie, Joe or Frances for further information

HOLLYWOOD
Hollywood GAA Club lotto results from February 1: The numbers drawn were 17, 18, 22 and 24. There was no winner of the jackpot. The sellers prize of a free book was Shay McGrath 613. €50 winners were Breda O’Reilly 170, Gillian O’Neill 637 and Darragh Burke 206. There will be a Child Welfare and Registration for Hollywood GAA Club members on Sunday, February 25, from 2-3pm at the club house. Attendance is mandatory for parents and mentors.

AVONDALE
The Avondale GAA juvenile AGM was well attended on Monday, January 29. With the Avondale academy going from strength to strength, and with our other under age teams, we have a large number of juveniles in the club.
Looking forward to a great 2018 for all our young players. Full list of committee members will be posted in next week’s notes.
