DEMENTIA SUPPORT
Meet and Eat is a new pilot project that aims to target older adults who are socially isolated, living alone and in particular those who are vulnerable due to physical, mental, or cognitive impairment. Areas covered are Roundwood, Laragh, Ashford and Newtownmountkennedy. Twelve volunteers are being recruited to assist with preparing nutritious meals and providing companionship at mealtimes once a week in the older person’s home. Training will be provided for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering or know a vulnerable adult who might benefit from this project. RECENT EXCAVATIONS
At 7 p.m. on Friday, February 23, the UCD School of Archaeology will present the results of the 2017 excavations at Glendalough. Organised by the Glendalough Heritage Forum, this public lecture will take place in the Brockagh Resource Centre. Everyone is welcome to attend.
WILLOW COURSES
Scarecrow Building Workshop: this workshop is for those of you who are interested in decorating your garden come the Spring with a beautiful willow scarecrow, duration one and half days on March 24 and 25.

USA CHOIR VISIT
We welcome Packer High School Chorus from New York to the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh on Tuesday, March 20, from 11.15 to midday, free entry for everyone to see their musical performance all the way from the USA.
TAE KWON-DO
Teens and adults will enjoy Taekwon-Do, a Korean art of self-defence. Benefits include improving confidence, respect, discipline, awareness, concentration, channeling aggression, balance, coordination, speed, reactions, fitness and health. HAPPY DAYS
Happy Days baby and toddler drop in group is every Wednesday morning 10.30 – midday at the Brockagh Centre (break in July and Aug). Come for a social morning with crafts, Messy Play, music and activities such as teddy bears picnic, sing along song/ storytime and of course light refreshments are provided. Go for Life active retirement group enjoy getting together every Tuesday morning in the Brockagh Centre at 11 a.m. So if you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light exercise, bowls, music come along on Tuesdays. The group meet for lunch once a month at various venues. HISTORICAL AGM the AGM of the Roundwood and District Historical and Folklore Society will take place on Tuesday, February 27, at 20.00 in the Parish Hall, Roundwood. Please note that only paid-up members of the society, on the day of the AGM are eligible to vote at the AGM.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL TALK
The next talk in the Roundwood Historical Society’s 2018 Series will take place on Tuesday, February 13, at 8 p.m. in the Roundwood Parish Hall. The title of the talk is ‘Recent Archaeo- logical discoveries at Newtownmountkennedy’ and will be given by archaeologist Paul Duffy.
Paul is a site director with Irish Archaeological Consultancy Ltd., a Kilcoole based company who were responsible for the archaeological testing and excavation in Newtownmountkennedy. Paul has supervised and directed numerous prehistoric and medieval excavations throughout Ireland. Paul’s international experience includes supervising excavations in France as well as leading large scale heritage surveys and excavations in Western Australia.
In addition to private sector work, Paul has extensive experience in community archaeology and he was awarded Royal Irish Academy excavation grants in 2013 and 2014 for his project Grassroots Archaeology and Irish Research Council funding for his Resurrecting Monuments project carried out in partnership with UCD in 2015 and 2016.
Paul is a serving board member of the Institute of Archaeologist of Ireland. He has published in numerous volumes and has lectured on his works in Ireland, France, Australia and the UK His research interests include community archaeology, medieval settlement and defensive architecture. His book ‘From Carrickfergus to Carcassonne the epic deeds of Hugh de Lacy during the Albigensian Crusade’ has just been published.

ROUNDWOOD MEN’S SHED
As well as the tea and cake and biscuits, there is regular banter in the Shed at the gatherings on Tuesdays between 10 a.m. and midday. You will be assured of a warm welcome if you come along.
CEILI DANCING
Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learning.
MONEYSTOWN CENTRE
Moneystown Community Centre Cards will continue as usual on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. while our Moneystown Dance will return on Friday, March 9, Tuesday morning badminton continues from 9.30 a.m. beginners always welcome. Some rackets are available.
WALKING CLUB
The Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action every Wednesday evening meeting at 7 p.m. at the Coach House car park. Everyone welcome to walk at your own pace for approximately one hour in and around Roundwood village.
