A magic night for Glenealy!
GLENEALY Hurling Club came together last weekend to celebrate a fantastic year in 2017 and what a night was had!
Special guest on the night was Galway All-Ireland winning player Aidan Hart who was on hand to present some of the many awards handed out on the night.
The Senior player of the Year award went to Emmet Byrne after a splendid season for the young Glenealy man.
The Young Player of the Year award went to the impressive Jonathan ‘Bosco’ O’Neill Jnr who looks set for a long and prosperous season with the Reds. Glenealy stalwart Paddy Staunton scooped the Club Person of the Year award and it was a fitting selection given the hard work and effort that the affable Paddy puts into the club.
Glenealy, under Garry Laffan, returned to the summit of Wicklow club hurling with a fine championship campaign that ended with a convincing victory over defending champions Bray Emmets in Joule Park, Aughrim.
From here Laffan’s men embarked on a journey through Leinster which seen them reaching the Leinster Intermediate club hurling final.
After such a fantastic season, they can now look forward to defending their crown in 2018.
