The Degani Ensemble will present ‘Music from the Movies’ at Whale Theatre in Greystones on Mother’s Day, Sunday, March 11 at 4 p.m.

The versatile Degani Ensemble presents a programme of popular movie themes in special arrangements by founder member Alan Smale, and featuring Alan on violin and Ruby Ashley, oboe soloist.

The concert highlights include Stanley Myers unforgettable ‘Cavatina’, from ‘The Deer Hunter’, music by Ennio Morricone, the evocative ‘Gabriel’s Oboe’ from ‘The Mission’, and Nino Rota’s theme from ‘The Godfather’.

John Williams’ iconic violin solo from ‘Schindler’s List’ will be performed, along with another great modern violin solo ‘Ladies in Lavender’ by Nigel Hess.
