Driver fined for passing car in N11 driving lane

-

A man who used the driving lane to pass another car has been fined €250 at Bray District Court.

Sean Devlin (21), Knockfadda, Roundwood, appeared in Bray District Court last Thursday to answer a charge of careless driving.

He admitted the offence, which occurred on the N11 southbound on December 26, 2016.

The court heard that Devlin came up behind a car in the overtaking lane. He then pulled into the driving lane, passed the vehicle and and then rejoined right-hand lane.

The court heard that the incident was reported by drivers travelling in the driving lane.

The person driving in the right-hand lane was not identified and did not make a complaint. There was no indication of excessive speed.

Solicitor Brendan Maloney said that the matter was down to inexperience on his client’s part.

‘He has learned a very hard lesson,’ said Mr Maloney, who said that his client works as a professional driver in his father’s small transport business.

The court heard that the matter carries four penalty points.
