Big win for Ballymanus
BALLYMANUS ASHFORD 4-14 1-05
THIS meeting turned out to be a one-sided game, particularly in the first half.
Ashford’s only score of the first half was a goal coming near to half-time.
The Billies scored 3-8 in the first half and could have had a lot more as possession was all their’s.
Paddy Molloy’s men showed great movement and work rate all over the field which lead to some fine scores before the break, including a beauty from Brendan Whelan.
Goals in first half were from Kevin Byrne, Brendan Whelan and Darragh O’Keeffe.
The game was held up for a nasty injury to Jim Byrne in first half and we wish him well.
Ashford started the second half much better and added a few points but Ballymanus kept ticking away with Roan Lynch adding a fine score midway through the second half.
Ryan Whelan made his debut in a Billies jersey in the second half, coming on for Kieran Whelan.
Kevin Byrne got a goal near the end of the match to leave a very healthy score line for the Askinagap men.
Overall good team performance against a depleted Ashford team with Darragh Byrne standing out at full-back assisted by Mark and Kevin Byrne.
