-

Charlie O’Leary Cup

Newtown United booked their place in the last 16 of the Charlie O’Leary Cup as they hit Dynamo Dublin for six on Sunday.

The Magpies were frustrated by their opponents for long periods of the first-half, but they eventually made their possession tell when Martin Williams fired them in front ten minutes before the break.

The score remained at 1-0 until Dillon Carthy finally doubled their advantage in the 75th minute, and then the floodgates opened.

A quick-fire double from Dean Odlum put the Wicklow side firmly in control and Mark Fitzsimons and Seán Heffernan added late goals to complete the rout.

There was no joy for Greystones United, however, as they lost out 5-4 on penalties to FC Lokomotiv at Hartstown Park. Kevin Bell and Olly James got the goals for the Garden county side.

Meanwhile, Roundwood AFC were handed a walkover from Old Court Celtic.

Pat O’Toole Division 1B

Arklow United picked up an important three points on Sunday as they edged out Knockmitten United 3-2 in Pat O’Toole Division 1B.

Zach Kilbride, David O’Neill and Richie Neary hit the back of the net of the Wicklow side.

Elsewhere, second-placed Bohs Supporters Club got another win on the board as they overcame Templeogue United 4-1.

Division 3

Division 3 leaders Arklow United had too much class for Avonmore on Sunday and ran out convincing 6-1 winners.

Alan McBride contributed a double for the pacesetters, while Luke Walker, Michael Wolohan, Ben Travers and Chris Corrigan chipped in with a goal apiece.

Jack Hamilton netted a consolation goal for Avonmore.

Second-placed Conary United were handed a walkover from Aughrim Rangers.

JJ McCrea was the match winner for Carnew AFC, as his double saw his side beat Dearg Celtic 2-0.

Meanwhile, Shamrock Celtic fought back to beat Wicklow Town 3-2 (see focus match).

Harry Griffith Over-35s

Greystones United ‘A’ overcame Dundrum FC 4-3 on penalties after a scoreless stalemate to take top spot in Group A of the Harry Griffith Senior Over-35s competition.
