‘Take A Chance On Me’, the second single from Abba’s fifth studio album (‘Abba: The Album’) was one of the Swedish foursome’s most successful hits. A chart-topper in Ireland, it was their seventh UK number one and their third consecutive No. 1 in the country after ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’ and ‘The Name of the Game’. ‘Take A Chance On Me’ had replaced Brotherhood of Man’s ‘Figaro’ on top of the charts, a song accused of copying Abba’s ‘Fernando’ - even though the two tracks were stylistically very different. ‘Take A Chance...’ was Abba’s final UK number one of the seventies, helping them achieve the accolade of act with the most chart-topping hits in the decade.
