The Degani Ensemble will present ‘Music from the Movies’ at Whale Theatre in Greystones on Mother’s Day, Sunday, March 11 at 4 p.m.

The versatile Degani Ensemble presents a programme of popular movie themes in special arrangemen­ts by founder member Alan Smale, and featuring Alan on violin and Ruby Ashley, oboe soloist.

The concert highlights include Stanley Myers unforgetta­ble ‘Cavatina’, from ‘The Deer Hunter’, music by Ennio Morricone, the evocative ‘Gabriel’s Oboe’ from ‘The Mission’, and Nino Rota’s theme from ‘The Godfather’.

John Williams’ iconic violin solo from ‘Schindler’s List’ will be performed, along with another great modern violin solo ‘Ladies in Lavender’ by Nigel Hess.

Tickets are €18 or €15 concession and available from whaletheat­re.ie. items including clothing, jewellery, fashion items, books or bric a brac. All proceeds will be donated to the Kevin Bell Repatriati­on Trust and Lakers. ond Tuesday of every month. All are welcome to come and enjoy delicious home baking and freshly brewed McCabe’s coffee or a delicious cup of Fairtrade tea. Donations to the Youth Cafe Project are also welcome.
