Bray Harriers host super point to point

-

THE Bray Harriers held their annual point to point at Fairwood, TInahely, on Sunday last.

Great racing took place with some close finishes which had to be decided by the camera. It was a beautiful spring day, the sun shone, and ground conditions were ideal.

The first race, sponsored by the Magee family, was won by the Colin Bowe trained The Hollow Chap and was ridden by champion rider Barry O’Neill.

In second place, just two lengths off, was another Wexford trained horse, the eye-catching Beyondapproach from the Donnchadh Doyle stable and ridden by Rob James.

The second race, sponsored by Gaelic Plant Hire, again went to a Wexford trained horse - Financial Outcome trained by John Paul Brennan in Camolin and owed by his father, Tommy. This was ridden by Simon Kavanagh and was bred by Donal Goland from Tara Hill, Gorey.

The Colin Bowe trained Hadmeathello, ridden by Barry O’Neill, finished in second place with Rob James aboard Reallyradical for Donnchadh Doyle in third place.

The third race, the John Durkan Memorial Open Lightweight race, saw the 5/4 favourite Morning Assembly parting company with his rider at the first fence leaving the race wide open. It was won by Dantes King, a winner on this course in November, ridden by Roderick Kavanagh for trainer Mark Fahey from Kildare.

Just three-parts of a length separated the first two horses here with Chapter Two in the runner up spot ridden by J.J. King for owner/trainer Tom Shaw again from Kildare.

The fourth race, sponsored by John R Fitzpatrick, Agricultural Contractor, saw Rob James winning on the Donnchadh Doyle trained Holy Motivation by an impressive 10 lengths with ‘Kalamansi Cooler’ in second place trained by David Harvey and ridden by B Harvey.

The fifth race, sponsored by Fitzpatrick, Gallagher & McEvoy, Solicitors, saw Thinkinginmysleep win by just half a length in a thrilling finish, getting the better of the odds-on favourite ‘Cavsa Nostra’ trained by Denis Murphy and ridden by Jamie Codd.

This horse is owned and trained by Mrs. Dot Love in Westmeath and ridden by her grandson, Timmy Love.

The final race of the day, sponsored by Keny Carty Solicitors & O Donnell Property, was again dominated by Wexford trainers with the Richard Rath trained Captain Leo winning in the hands of up and coming young novice rider, Tiernan Power Roche. The runner up went to the Daryl Deacon trained Coach Road ridden by L.J. Murphy.
