Super day for talented youngsters in Ballinakil­l

- STH WICKLOW FINALS

WELL done to all the schools who made it to the first finals day of the South Wicklow Cumann na mBunscol last week.

A great day’s hurling and football was enjoyed at the Wicklow GAA Centre of Excellence depsite the freezing conditions.

A right battle ensued in the Third/fourth Class Hurling Cup final between Scoil Aodán Naofa of Carnew and Aughrim NS with the Carnew hurlers coming out on top after a really close and exciting game.

Coolafancy NS secured the title in the final of the Fifth/sixth Class Mixed Football Cup.

And Aughrim NS ensured that silverware did return to the Granit Village when the fith and sixth class team claimed victory in the Boys football Cup final.

The organisers would like to offer a special thanks to James Doyle and Laura Doran, TY students from Colaisté Bhride Carnew, who refereed the hurling games.

They recently completed their Go Games referee course with Wicklow GAA’s coaching and games staff. This was a great event in Ballinakil­l with planty of young hurlers and footballer­s making memories to last a lifetime.
