Newtown students star in exciting GAA video

-

FUN and Run in Newtown Primary - Fun and run is an activity involving batters/kickers and fielders, which is suitable for all age and ability levels and is particularly suited to meet the needs of people with additional needs.

It is a game that was recently developed by the GAA as part of their policy of inclusiveness.

It is based on the game of Rounders but the beauty of it is that the competitors are never knocked out.

Like rounders, there are stations that the children run to and each station has an activity that the children have to complete. Movement never ceases.

The purpose of the exercise is that games and training sessions can be modified and enjoyed by pupils of all abilities, including those with additional support needs.

The GAA recently sent a film crew to Newtown to film the game in action.

The pupils in Newtown were delighted to be captured by drone taking part in the Fun and Run game.

The video is now on the GAA website and can be seen with further information on GAA Fun and Run under learning.gaa.ie/ funandrun
