Ashtown Lane hosts the biggest underage fixture of the year!

-

WICKLOW RFC’S under-8s hosted their biggest fixture of the year at Ashtown Lane with the visit of under-8 squads from De La Salle Palmerston RFC and Seapoint RFC from south County Dublin on Sunday last.

The metropolitan clubs both fielded three teams each and together with two Wicklow teams there were over 80 kids playing rugby in the bright sunshine.

Each team played four very competitive matches making it a busy morning’s rugby with 16 matches in total taking place.

All three clubs can be very proud of their under-8 teams as they produced great skills and loads of tries in a great spectacle of rugby.

The kids and visiting parents all adjourned to the clubhouse for some well earned refreshments afterwards.

Meanwhile, Wicklow’s under-12s boys travelled to Gorey RFC for a fixture against their host club, Arklow RFC and New Ross RFC. The Wicklow squad was missing a number of players but every boy on the pitch stepped up to fill the gaps and put in powerful performances. Both teams played three matches each against tough opposition.
