The members of the Kilmacanogue History Society would like you to join them on this Tuesday, March 6, to relive the adventures of Ernest Shackleton at Frank Nugent’s Re-Enactment of Shackleton’s Antarctic Rescue Mission.

Ernest Shackleton was born near Athy, Co. Kildare and spent the first 10 years of his life in Ireland before his family moved to England, to enable his father to pursue his medical career. Ernest began his seafaring career at aged 16 and joined his first expedition to the Antarctic in his late twenties.

Thus, began his involvement in a series of heroic expeditions but what must be one of the most incredible journeys of all time is re-lived by Frank Nugent, who re-traced the steps of the famous explorer and is recounting this amazing story in the Glenview Hotel at 8 p.m.
