CROSS COUNTRY

Well done to Ailbhe Flynn, Hana Blake and Dara Owens, who recently competed in the senior girls’ Leinster Schools’ Cross Country event in Santry. A short, tough race with a high standard of runners.

Well done and best of luck to Hana, who qualified for the all-Ireland Schools’ Cross Country event in Waterford IT on March 10.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Well done to our first year boys basketball team who continued their excellent start to the season with a hard fought win against previously unbeaten Woodbrook College. Their next match is against St Killian’s College.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Following a tight game on a grit pitch at Wilsons Hospital our junior team had their first loss of the season.

Although they dominated the game the home team took their home advantage winning 2-1.

This leaves our junior team finishing second in their league. They play Muckross in a play-off on Friday the 22nd and need a win to progress into the quarters.

Senior and minors team competed well in their respective leagues and will continue to train till Easter. Our first year teams are still competing in their league with the A team looking likely to top their section.

COMHAIRLE NA NÓG

On Wednesday, February 20, two of our students, Alastair Bell and Jennifer Wood were part of a delegation from Wicklow Comhairle na nÓg that travelled to Leinster House to meet TD’s and Senators. They discussed their work on cyber bullying and presented a Charter on Cyberbullying to them.

The Dail and Senate committee were very supportive and interested in their efforts and will bring copies of the Charters to their constituencies to display them.

TY NEWS

This week has seen our TY’s returning from a well deserved week off full of energy and enthusiasm for their last couple of weeks of this set of units. The set makers have been putting the finishing touches to a fairly epic set for the TY play ‘A Game of Tiaras’. Watch out for floating mermaids, throne carrying Gollum’s, murderous princesses and singing Disney characters. All set against the back drop of a magnificent castle, cave, jail cell and tower. It really does promise to be a fantastic and fun filled show so please do make the effort to come along. The show runs from wed 14th to Friday, March 16, and tickets will be available from the school office.

The students are also looking forward to their upcoming Dublin trips which will see them visiting various Dublin museums and gallery’s including the National Gallery, Collins Barracks, The Aviva stadium, ‘Fake’ at the science gallery and a fantastic walking tour based around the 1916 rising. A busy and action packed few weeks lie ahead.
