TIDY TOWNS
The annual General meeting of the Rathdrum Tidy Towns Committee takes place on Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. All members and intending members are welcome.
ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
The Next Meeting of the St Patrick’s Day parade will take place on Monday, March 5, in the RDA hall at 7.15 p.m.
This year the Grand Marshall is the very popular John Joe Mitchell. John Joe is one of the great community workers in the town for many years playing leading rolls in both the RDA and Bingo Committees and his hard work with Rathdrum St Vincent de Paul. Congratulations John Joe.
SYMPATHY
Sincere sympathy is extended to the families of Bill O’Toole and Din Kinsella, who passed away recently. May they rest in peace.
BLOOD CLINIC
Reminder that the next blood donation clinic will be held on Thursday, March 1, between 4.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Regular and new donors are very welcome. Blood stocks need to be constantly renewed and the Blood Clinic encourage as many as possible to attend.
BINGO
Rathdrum Bingo is on every Friday night at 8.30 p.m. in the RDA Hall. This bingo is now in its 53rd year and continues to be one of the most successful ones in the county. Great prizes every week and there will be Easter egg raffles in the weeks coming up to Easter.
Bingo is one of the main contributors towards financing the maintenance of the RDA Hall, the Parnell Memorial Park and the Tourist Office.
PARNELL MEMORIAL PARK
An update on our recent post about the tree pruning. A contractor has been selected and it is hoped that work will begin in the not too distant future. More information will be given in advance of the work beginning.
LOUGH DERG
A weekend trip to Donegal takes place on August 18 and 19, Leaving Rathdrum on Saturday, August 18, staying overnight in the Central Hotel Donegal. CARTOON FESTIVAL
The Rathdrum International Cartoon Festival is back. June bank holiday weekend will see Rathdrum host animators, illustrators, cartoonists, talks, workshops, bands, funfair, and family entertainment. Further details will be announced over the coming months.
