A 15-YEAR-OLD boy who admitted theft said that he was pressured into it.

Garda James McDonagh told the Court that he was called to Sally’s Salon Services on Castle Street in Bray February 24, 2017 at 4.35 p.m.

The shop assistant saw a male take eyelash tint to the value of €147.60. The item was returned in saleable condition. Garda Brian Burns told the court that he received a report from Boots in Greystones on May 3, 2017.

A youth had taken a number of bottles of aftershave. The value of the goods was €268.50 and the property was not recovered. The court heard that the boy had two previous burglary convictions. One of those result- ed in three months detention at Oberstown.

Barrister Éamonn O’Moore said that his client is preparing for the Junior Certificate and was actively doing so in Oberstown. He said that he is also involved in woodwork and finds it enjoyable. ‘It is definitely a change of pace from his regular activity.’ Mr O’Moore said that his client apologises for his actions.

He said that he owed money and was pressured to commit those crimes. Judge David Kennedy adjourned the matter to next month for a probation report. The court heard that the boy’s bail had been revoked due to breaches. Judge Kennedy remanded the defendant in custody.
