Rathnew’s ‘Xquisite’ young dancers not feeling the nerves
DESPITE their young age, three dancers from Rathnew aren’t feeling the nerves as they prepare for their semi-final performance on Ireland’s Got Talent this week.
Back in February, eight-year-old Freya Roche, nine-year-old Kate Goulding and eleven-year-old Mia Jameson were among the ten-person dance group Xquisite who wowed the audience with a fabulous dance routine that prompted judge Denise Van Outen to press the golden buzzer and put them straight through to the semi-finals.
While most of the group hail from Tallaght, Freya, Kate and Mia are all natives of Rathnew.
Emma Goulding, Kate’s mother, said the girls have taken it all in their stride as they look forward to Thursday’s live semi-final, which will be aired on TV3 at 8.30 p.m.
‘ They have been very busy rehearsing and the excitement has been unreal,’ said Emma. ‘ They have been practising at Xquisite Dance Club and with choreographers from the show. They are really busy and I think they still can’t believe they received the golden buzzer in the last round.
‘ They have made such a big impact and it has been such a wonderful experience for them,’ said the proud mum.
‘Usually the different partners would be competing against one another in competition so it’s nice for them that they are all a team in Ireland’s Got Talent.’
Over the past week, the Xquisite troupe has been visiting schools in Tallaght and Wicklow, including the Holy Rosary, Dominican College Wicklow, St Coen’s NS and Colaiste Chill Mhantain.
‘ The support they have received is absolutely phenomenal. Big banners of support were put up in Wicklow town and Rathnew and that completely made their day. They aren’t nervous about Thursday at all. Dancing is what they love and they are always dancing whenever they can,’ said Emma.
