Annual sale to help purchase Easter eggs for patients

THE annual sale to ensure the patients of Newcastle Hospital have Easter eggs to open takes place in Kilcoole this weekend.

Organised by Sylvia Scanlon, the charity sale takes place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, in Byrnes Pub in Kilcoole. There will be tables selling arts and crafts and bric a brac and games including guess the weight of the box, guess the weight of Vera’s Easter cake and guess how many sweets in the jar. Top prize in the draw is a weekend away and there will be 60 prizes on offer. The Easter bonnet competitio­n will be judged at 2 p.m., with separate adult and child categories. Any proceeds leftover once the Easter eggs are bought will to to the Samaritans, Kilcoole mother and toddler group, Greystones Resource Centre and Greystones Cancer Support.
