Charity run in Avondale for Temple Street

-

THERE will be a one day festival of running in the grounds of Avondale House and Forest Park on Saturday, April 14.

Many people will be familiar with the Wicklow Hospice Four Day Festival of Running which is held every year in Avondale during July. This April’s one day festival is being organised by the Wicklow Hospice Crew but it is a one-off fund raiser in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

The event consists of a choice of five distances: five, ten, fifteen and twenty miles of a full marathon. Places are limited to 200 people. Online entry is €25 at www. sportszone.ie or €30 on the day, provided there are spaces available.

Walkers are more than welcome and there is a specially struck medal for the 200 participants. There will be the usual fun and laughter that is synonymous with the Wicklow Hospice July festival and plenty of refreshments afterwards.

One of the hospice volunteers, Ciarán Byrne, is daring to complete the 2,500 miles of the famous Route 66. All proceeds from this challenge go towards Temple Street Children’s Hospital, a cause that resonates with many people in Wicklow and beyond.

To take part in the run or walk in Avondale in aid of a worthy cause log on to www.sportszone.ie to reserve your place and for more information.
