Course to give overview of data protection laws

-

LOCAL Enterprise Office Wicklow are offering a course to businesses on all owners need to know about new data protection regulations.

With the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) coming into force on May 25, businesses and organisations will need to review and update their operational, administrative and technical measures in relation to data protection.

The main threat associated with GDPR is the deadline, which is fast approaching, because non-compliance by May 25 could lead to a maximum fine of four per cent of global turnover of the preceding year or €20 million, whichever is the highest.

GDPR places onerous accountability obligations on enterprises to demonstrate compliance, with many companies having extensive work to complete ahead of the introduction date.

The half-day seminar in the Parkview Hotel, Newtownmountkennedy, on Thursday, April 19, will present essential information on GDPR and provide a practical toolkit to assist business owners. The free event runs from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and the trainer will be Ruth Hallinan of Data Protection Solutions. The seminar is most suitable for owners and key staff of established start-up businesses.
