Talented BIFE musicians release ‘Compilation No. 1’
BIFE MUSIC students launched an album recently, during ‘Music Goes Live’ at the institute’s recent festival of arts.
Students of the Music Performance programme launched their collaborative record prior to the department gig in Mermaid Arts Centre.
All proceeds from the album will go to Bray Women’s Refuge.
Collective’s Compilation No.1 is an eclectic album curated by a group of Music Production and Music Performance students during their final year at Bray Institute of Further Education.
The album showcases the skills they have developed while attending BIFE and celebrates the diversity of personalities and backgrounds present in the group.
There are seven tracks on the compilation, spanning folk, contemporary R&B, rock, atmospheric pop, techno and chillhop.
The launch included a wine reception and the chance to hear the album play. The album can be purchased for €5, with all proceeds going to the charity. BIFE’s Music Production Course is an advanced program developed for those who want to hone and refine their skills in audio recording and sound manipulation. The course goes in depth into recording techniques used in the studio, live and on location.
It has facilities for recording including an analogue Mixing Desk, a treated live room for professional quality recording and an array of analogue outboard gear. The Music Performance course helps musicians to hone their skills and performance techniques through both theoretical and practical avenues, allowing students to grow as performers.
