BASKETBALL
COLÁISTE Bhrídes first year boys basketball team travelled to WIT arena Wednesday last to play their South-East Final.
Their opponents on the day were Gorey CS, who we had played twice before in the lead up to the final.
Carnew started slowly but Luca Molamphy steadied the side with two early free throws and a couple of great baskets.
This positive start was built on with scores from Callum Paterson and Jack Rosney in the second quarter.
This left Carnew leading at half time 12-3.
In the third quarter great defense from Maurice Sheil and Ruairi O’Brien led to many fast breaks which were well converted by Brandon Rossiter.
For the final quarter Gorey came back into the game but again with excellent defense from Rory Tallon their comeback was halted.
Carnew ran out winners on a score line of 21-13.
