RATHMICHAEL HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Rob Goodbody will be the guest presenter for the April meeting of the Rathmichael Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack and the surrounding area, which will take place on Wednesday, April 4, at 8 p.m. in Rathmichael National School at which Rob will present ‘Ballycorus’. Admission €5.
IRISH COUNTRYWOMEN’S ASSOCIATION SHANKILL
The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. SHANKILL GAA CLUB
The juvenile Academy sponsored by O’Donnell’s Pharmacy is in action in the gym of St Laurence College at 10 a.m. every Saturday. All equipment is provided free and cost is only €2 per child each week – there is no annual subscription. So why not come along and give the Academy a try – your child will learn the skills of Gaelic games while having fun with their friends. The effect of the recent bad weather is still causing problems so please check with your team manager for details of training and matches.

Last Monday a meeting took place at 3 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre the association is always interested in new members.
70TH BIRTHDAY
Congratulations to Barbara McGettigan who celebrated her 70th birthday with relations and many friends upstairs in the Harbour Bar. Many old friends met once again and enjoyed talking about things past like going to the Roxy Cinema, dancing in the Bru in Fatima House and the Arcadia Ballroom, and lots more. Well done Barbara and we hope you have lots more enjoyable birthdays.
TRAINING
Leaders in the Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club are returned from a seminar training weekend in Wexford. Main theme on the programme was how to recruit new members and leaders, and how to train the new leaders. It was decided to ensure that there are enough leaders in the club to deliver the club proposed activities for the member participants.
PHOTOGRAPHERS
Brendan Moran, an award winning photographer, is now displaying samples of his photographs in the Carpe Diem Restaurant on Albert Avenue. They cover underwater pictures of life in the seas around Ireland and abroad. The photos will be available for sale at very affordable prices and they are certainly worth viewing while enjoying refreshment in the premises.
