TOURIST OFFICE.

Long awaited construction in the Market Square is finally set to begin in the coming weeks. This is very welcome news for the town. Unfortunately the tourist office cabin which is maintained and serviced voluntarily by the RDA will have to be moved from the Market Square. A new location for the tourist office will be sought.

JACOBS WELL GOLF SOCIETY

The society played its opening event of the 2018 season at Woodenbridge Golf Club on Sunday, March 25. As usual the society was warmly received by the club and its members and the course was in excellent condition following extensive ground works during the winter months. There was a respectable turn out of 16 members including a number of guests who were all made very welcome by the society. The weather on the day was excellent, so a number of players recorded very strong scores. The winner of the Category one section was Larry Roe with 41 points and Alex Sheehan won the Category 2 section with 35 points. Captain James Byrne had the longest drive on the day. Prizes for ‘nearest the pin’ on the par 3 holes were awarded to Anthony Doyle, Caroline Browne, Alex Sheehan and Declan Sargeant. Prizes were presented at the club by committee members Arty Byrne and James Byrne. Special thanks to Mick Leonard for organising the event on the day. The Society’s next event takes place on Saturday, April 28, at Arklow Golf Club
