WHO’LL BE WICKLOW’S NEXT ROSE? THE SEARCH GETS UNDER WAY

-

THE search is on for the 2018 Wicklow Rose as this year’s competition was officially launched at the Arklow Bay Hotel on Saturday.

Some of this year’s hopefuls met with local coordinators and the current Wicklow Rose to sign up and to have a question and answer session about the process.

‘We currently have 12-15 contestants interested in taking part in the Wicklow Rose event and we expect that to increase to 16-20 in the coming weeks,’ explained coordinator Steve Cronly.

The current Wicklow Rose, Abby McKenna from Redcross, was present at the launch and met with some of the hopefuls ahead of the selection night in June. Having enjoyed a whirlwind year which recently saw her march in the New York St Patrick’s Day parade, Abby was keen to share what a wonderful experience being a Rose is.

The competition is open to contestants from all over the county and applications must be received by May 31.

The can be filed online through roseoftralee.ie/apply and the Wicklow coordinators will be in touch to discuss sponsorship requirements and to prepare contestants for selection night.

This year’s selection night takes place at the Arklow Bay Hotel on Saturday, June 16, and the winner will be chosen by a panel of judges with Rose of Tralee and escort experience.
