Bray in line for ‘Best Kept Town’
BRAY has been nominated for Ireland’s Best Kept Town. This is due to the stellar performance in last year’s Tidy Towns competition.
The town has qualified to participate in the ‘Large Urban Centre’ award.
Ireland’s Best Kept Towns Competition is an all-island initiative organised jointly by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Northern Ireland Amenity Council.
There are four awards in this year’s competition, with one of these going on to take the overall prize: village, small town, large town and large urban centre.
Adjudication takes place in May, and the results are announced at an awards ceremony in Belfast in June
The Department of the Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and the Northern Ireland Amenity Council initiated the Ireland’s Best Kept Towns competition in 1995 to help raise the profile of both the TidyTowns and Northern Ireland’s ‘Best Kept’ competitions, and so help to improve the standard of towns and villages across the island of Ireland.
All entrants are marked against strict adjudication criteria that included cleanliness, the outward appearance of buildings, the presentation of roads and public facilities and the natural environment.
Meanwhile, Bray Tidy Towns is participating in the National Spring Clean on Saturday, April 28.
