Cullen Farming Contractors

-

WE CALLED into Cullen farming Contractors LTD to see what way the weather was affecting them. Talking to Brian he said that at the moment the spring work is about 3 weeks behind schedule and very little land has been ploughed. A small amount of beans have been sowed. As of yet no cereal crops have been sown compared to last year when 30% of spring cereals had been sown. The main pressure at the moment is dung and slurry. Tanks are at their limits and if slurry is not spread soon there is a risk of contaminating grazing land and silage crops.

We recently upgraded our slurry injector to a larger self propelled terra gator unit which has a much larger output capacity as well as very low ground pressure. It can give the farmer the advantage of reduced risk of run off, greatly increasing the retention of slurry nutriants and reducing odour. Also grass can be grazed very quicklyas there is virtually no contamination of the swart.

We also purchased a second 6 row samco maize seeder to work alongside our 4m row samco seeder. This time last year we had started to sow maize, hopefully the weather will pick up soon and the work load will level out.
