Labour selection convention

THE Labour Party will hold a selection convention for its general election candidate for the Wicklow constituency this evening ( Wednesday) at the Glenview Hotel.

There will be one candidate nominated on the night and Naas resident Jack O’Connor, former General President of SIPTU, has put his name forward for selection.

The convention will be chaired by former Wicklow Labour TD Liz McManus. The party had held a seat in Wicklow, which it lost in the 2016 general election. Mr O’Connor has said that he was asked to run and would contest the race on issues such as health, housing and education.
